We grow Wheat, for milling and animal feed; Barley for malting; Peas for human consumption; Beans for animal feed and Oil Seed Rape for industrial purposes, including biofuel. We no longer till the soil (see No-till) prior to planting, this allows us to be more timely with our operations and protect and regenerate our soils for future generations.combine
The crops are rotated around the fields to reduce disease and weed risks. Temporary grass is rotated around the farm as a break from cropping. Cover crops are planted whenever there is a period of time without a cash crop growing in order to keep a growing root in the ground at all times, this also allows us to increase the diversity of crops growing which will encourage a greater diversity of life (micro organisms) below the ground.
